  • Why is the MyData account system going away?

    The MyData account system is being replaced with a new system that is more secure and will offer additional features for researchers using ICPSR data.

  • What's going to happen to MyData?

    The MyData account system will be phased out and no longer available by the first week of December 2023.

  • Where can I find it on the ICPSR website?

    A button to log in will be located in the top right corner of the header of every page on the ICPSR website.

  • When will the new Researcher Passport be available to use?

    As soon as your account is created, you can use your Researcher Passport to login and access ICPSR data and educational resources. Over time, we will be enhancing the Passport with features aimed at researchers, especially those applying for access to restricted data.

  • What is the deadline for updating my account to the new Researcher Passport system?

    There is no deadline. When you perform an action that requires you to log in, you will be prompted to update your account. The whole process is easy and short, it will not impede your access to data!

  • Who should have a Researcher Passport account?

    Anyone who is accessing ICPSR data or educational resources or depositing data must have a Researcher Passport account.

  • Do I need to be a part of an ICPSR member institution to update my account?

    No, you do not need to be part of a member institution to update or create your account.

  • I don't want to update my account with any additional information. Can I opt out?

    As long as you have filled out the required fields in your profile, you don't need to update or add other information to your account.

  • What if I don't want to use my institution or a third-party to log in?

    You may create an account using a personal email address. However, if you are part of a member institution and don't use your institutional email, you will not be recognized as a member and may not have access to certain data.

  • Does everyone have to create a new account when they log in?

    Yes. We are transitioning to a new system. If you previously had a MyData account, and you are using the same email address to create your new Researcher Passport account, your profile information will be migrated over.

  • How can I give feedback?
